Police get their man after releasing a photo

suspect 2The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following an assault complaint in Chatham.

As previously released, on Wednesday, November 19, shortly before midnight, the man attended an apartment complex and gained entry into the building through a woman that he had previous telephone contact with. The man was in the apartment building for a very short period of time, during which time he assaulted the woman. She did not sustain any injuries as a result of the assault.

Earlier this week, police released photographs of the man hoping that a member of the public would recognize him.

With the public’s assistance, the man was identified and taken into custody that same day around 11 a.m.

Julian Mills, 39, of Wilson Avenue in Chatham has been charged with sexual assault, fraudulent personation to gain advantage for himself and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

To protect the integrity of the investigation and court process, a publication ban has been ordered.
